David Purchas is the owner and practitioner of the new Centre of Health located in New Cavendish Street, London. The Centre of Health offers a unique oriental style of acupuncture.  David Purchas BSc (Hon), Lic Ac, Bed, MBAcC With an interest in human development, David studied education and psychology and taught at a Montessori pre-school in New Zealand before making the first steps into the holistic arena under the guidance of well-respected Naturopath, Peter Waugh.  After an intense period of learning including building up a massage business at Waugh’s Natural Health Centre, David decided to leave New Zealand and focus on finding a career in complementary healing overseas.

After visiting different health centres including the Casa de Dom Inacio in Brazil David realised he wanted to find a modality that would be:

• Grounded in knowledge,
• In keeping with modern, western values,
• Infused with a spiritual element but not solely focused on this element.

With this ambition, David moved to London and settled on acupuncture as the therapy best suited to his talents and interests.  After 3 years of acupuncture training and further study in the oriental style of acupuncture, David decided to set up his own clinic to offer his unique services.

David has 8 years experience working in the complementary health field. He is a member of the British Acupuncture Council. He now works as a teaching assistant in point-location at the London College of Traditional Acupuncture, at the Hoxton Health Group which specialise in treatment for people over 60, and at Centred Health in Croydon.
