Seasonal Alignment acupuncture is designed to help smooth over climate changes by giving the body’s energy a gentle boost ensuring you feel energised and ready to face the changes with ease. Seasonal Alignment is complete within a single session and a gentle acupuncture technique is used to boost your immune system ensuring your body doesn’t slip into “hibernation mode,” but instead is refreshed, invigorated and strengthened, ready to fend off those nasty winter bugs.

FAQ for Seasonal Alignment:
Q1. Could you confirm I have got the basic idea of Seasonal Alignment acupuncture correct ? - That it's to balance the energy (or qi) in a persons body so it’s in the best possible shape to face the change in seasons.
A1 The general idea is to balance the persons body (Physically, mentally and emotionally). As a result of imbalances people will have a tendency to run a little hot or cold, or a bit of both. For example if they have heat trapped inside then they could find the hotter months difficult (irritable, headaches, hayfever, skin rashes), if they tend towards being constitutionally cold then they will be more prone to colds, depression, body aches, and find the winter months more problematic.
Q2. How come, for general well-being or a specific condition like migraines, several acupuncture sessions are usually recommended, but Seasonal Alignment does the job in one?
A2. Seasonal Alignment is a preventative treatment. If people have chronic conditions then this would involve several treatments to help improve. Seasonal Alignment aims to take some of the pressure off the body at the change of seasons, as such you do not need to be suffering from an aliment before you can come. If you get a lot of colds every winter and generally feel tired and depressed then the SA would aim to reduce the number of colds you get, and help your energy to flow, which would reduce the sense of depression. I will also be able to give appropriate advice that suits your constitution so that you know what works for your particular body type which will further enhance the benefits of the treatment.
Q3. Is it traditional practice to use acupuncture seasonally or is this technique "Seasonal Alignment acupuncture" David's creation?
A3. The start of the season is a traditionally recognised time to have acupuncture. In western society we look on acupuncture as a way of fixing problems rather than preventing them. In China it is traditionally practiced as a preventative medicine. Seasonal alignment endeavours to foster this idea of preventative treatment.
Q4. How do you decide whether to use needling techniques or applied heat/pressure on the patient? And what does the applied heat consist of?
A4. Needles are used to give a very focused treatment. I use needles when I want to directly stimulate the energy of a point or meridian line (the line that connects the points together). Moxa (mugwart) is used to apply heat, or tonify, a point or area of the body. For example some people may have a lack of energy in their abdomen leading to reduced digestion (production of Ki and blood). Moxa can be used to add a tonifying energy to this area to help stimulate the stomach, pancreas and spleen to produce Ki and blood from fluids and food you ingest. Moxa when used in a different way can also be used to disperse heat which is helpful if the Ki and blood becomes stuck which you would experience as pain, so moxa can help to 'disperse' this pain.
Q5. Can you confirm seasonal alignment is a one off treatment, how long a session takes and costs.
A5. Seasonal alignment is a preventative treatment to help you embrace the new season; it is not expected to fix chronic (a condition that you have suffered from for a number of years) conditions. It only takes one session to give your body a boost to help adapt to the change in season. The treatment is complete in one session which takes one hour and costs £60. If however you suffer from a more chronic condition then feel free to contact me to discuss what benefit you may experience.
Q6. When is the best time to come.
A6. One session each season is recommended, this can be in line with the calendar months or when you start to feel the change of season is upon you.
Q7. I suffer from hay fever which I have had for many years. Will this help.
A7. Seasonal Alignment treatment will not fix most chronic conditions, however by having a Seasonal Alignment treatment you should have some relief from hay fever symptoms in the short term. If you get a good result from one treatment you may like to consider a series of treatments for longer term relief. Treatment of hay fever is best started before the hay fever season kicks in.
Q8. I tend to get down and more depressed in the winter months can Seasonal Alignment benefit me.
A8. The winter months in London can be particularly trying as there is still the hustle and bustle but the body is naturally trying to take things a bit slower as it needs to conserve energy to keep out the cold. Seasonal Alignment would help you by boosting your energy and helping it to flow to the areas in your body where it is most needed.
